Overview of the program
Robotics is an interdisciplinary field that integrates computer science and engineering. Robotics involves design, construction, operation, and use of robots. The robot dog Aibo, the Roomba vacuum, AI-powered robot assistants, and a growing variety of robotic toys and kits are all examples of innovations in the field of robotics. Increasingly robots are being instituted in disaster response, the medical field, heavy industries, and many more.
With the rise of machine learning (ML) and associated technologies, the demand for robotics engineers is growing each year. It’s projected that the number of jobs in the field will grow 9% between 2016 and 2026, leading to a shortage of qualified engineers. Robotics is also a very rewarding profession. The average salary for a senior robotics executive is 10 lacs per annum.
Robotics is already prevalent in a number of industries. The medical and heavy industries fields are two fields where robotics have already contributed greatly.
